The way things have gone, the only true untouchable we have is Hughes. They would be wise to do everything in their power to keep the guy happy. He is hands down the best defenseman this franchise has ever seen and climbing up the ranks at such a rapid pace.
Dude is only 25 and breaking all sorts of records throughout our history. Albeit, that speaks to how shit our defense has been but he is the true superstar #1 dman we've always dreamed about. Seriously, all hope is lost if they somehow manage to lose this guy.
I'd argue Hughes is the best overall player the Canucks have ever had. Individual skill, there may be others such Mogilny, Bure, etc. but the impact Hughes has on the game is unparalleled.
I often see stats on when Hughes is on the ice, the team gets a whole bunch of scoring chances, and when he is not on the ice, the team gives up a bunch of scoring changes (which makes sense, but also shows the rest of the team is somewhat useless). His puck possession stats are insane.

I think what's his face (Tomlinson?) joked they should call him MP3 since he's the 3rd Petey. Shorty replied with "Don't ask me, I'm not a nickname guy"

The banter after that was pretty funny. Shorty knew he blew it especially after calling for Murph
As for the Utah team I am partial to animal names so I'd go with Mammoths
Was at the game last night. Kinda sloppy in the 2nd but wasn't the worst I've seen. Brought it to the Wings in the 3rd but Lyon was on fire. Game could've gone either way imo but 2 grade A chances missed the net in OT lol
Both D-Petey and M-Petey were very noticeable for good reasons. Chytil was all over the place too and O'Connor also wasn't bad. Can definitely notice when Hughes isn't playing, he would've made a difference on the outcome of the game.
it would seem that D-Petey has made quite the impact on coaching staff. he's basically what Soucy should have been for us and at a much cheaper price point currently.
Ray Ferraro rink side during the game
Landon Ferraro in the broadcast booth during intermission
Cammi Granato watching game in a box up top
Don Granato in Sportsnet studio during intermission

Nepotism trumped diversity for Sportsnet I guess
Landon is ok, but they dumped a whole lot of other hosts to give him both a TV and radio spots lol
