Politics aside, Ovechkin is a unique hockey superstar.
A big Russian player who not only is close to beating Gretzky’s scoring record, he also played a physical game in his prime.
Hard body checks from Ovi and a lethal goal scorer. There are very few players in hockey who
play the game like the Great 8.

Nobody of any prominence can really be flat out anti-Putin if they still have family over there or ever plan to go back.
I wouldn't assume whether he's pro or anti Putin based on what he says publicly. He could be either; there's no way to know without knowing him in person.

I thought there was some story about Ovi rubbing shoulders with Putin even shortly after the Ukraine invasion. There was some noise online about it. Politics aside, he is for sure an anomaly.

Ovi was like slowing down at the end of last season (injury?) but this season, his ass is lit ... he wants to break the record this year, even though he missed some games already due to injury. Tonight, a hattrick !!

The ice is always tilted when he plays. Need the rest of the team to step up though. Can't just rely on Hughes to save the day. Saw clip of hoagie's goal, nice.

Hughes going to be like Demko in the future if he keeps on carrying this team.

The trio of Garland-Blueger-Joshua haven't barely seen any time together this season (not only due to injury). I'm honestly curious as to why Tocchet hasn't put them together considering their impact just last season as our third line.
