Dhali reported that Canes last minute offered a 1st rounder for Brock (from the Rantanen deal) and Canucks said no.... something about a pick not making the team better right now

I believe Canes wanted Brock AND a prospect, that's why it was a no

Carolina can always sign Boeser in the offseason. Which means either Canucks overpay and give Boeser what he wants, or he walks and Canucks get nothing. Either or I hope they just let him walk then overpay him. Clearly, he is not willing to give Canucks a discount.

SkinnyPupp 03-11-2025 05:38 AM

Nobody is going to give a shitter team like the Canucks a discount. Florida, Vegas, Dallas sure, but not Vancouver. If anything they'll want more money to live there and deal with the ownership and media.

[Westhead] An NHL team executive told me today concerns are mounting that North America is heading towards a recession and that the CAD will plunge to $0.60 cents or less. The 7 Canadian NHL teams and 3 Canadian MLS teams pay player salaries in USD and generate most of their revenue in CAD.
Probably why Aquaman raising prices and team playing hardball with contracts?

What makes living in Vancouver so bad for hockey players?

punkwax 03-11-2025 04:56 PM

Taxes and living in a fishbowl primarily.

teggy604 03-11-2025 08:10 PM

I guess ep40, boeser, debrusk never got tocchet memo about earning ice time last game. Maybe they all need to be benched. Lol

GG ... playing from behind.

68style 03-11-2025 10:32 PM

Bad result, Canucks were screwed the whole first period and most of the 2nd too... posts... Joshua's goal that was probably a goal but they couldn't see space between the puck and the redline... even tho the goalie's pads were like fuckin 3" inside the line as he "kicked it out"............. every single rush chance the Canadiens got they scored pretty much. Very frustrating.

pastarocket 03-12-2025 07:21 AM

Who thinks that our Canucks will make the playoffs?

Iain McIntyre thinks that the Canucks' run to try to make the playoffs is like climbing a steep mountain. Mount Everest. I agree.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...er-by-the-day/

McIntyre talks about the team's woes. Miller mentally checking out as a Canuck. Petey's horrible season. Multiple injuries to Demko and Hughes.
Inconsistent scoring from Boeser.

-also of note is the lack of scoring from our bottom six forwards. Hoglander and Joshua combined for 42 goals last season.

-only 9 goals from Hoagie and DJ this season.

Huge road game tonight against Calgary. Tocchet said that Hughes is travelling with the team to Calgary. The captain might play in tonight's game.

teggy604 03-12-2025 10:06 AM

If Hughes decides to suit up, he better be ready to be physical. Calgary is rested and hungry and knowing Hughes is back they are going to be hard on him.

I don't think they will. Hughes, Garland, and Lankinen are driving the bus, the rest are simply passengers at this point.

Making the playoffs will make ownership think we're "good enough" when we're not even close...

teggy604 03-12-2025 12:09 PM

^^ Playoffs means Aquaman and the Canucks have a reason to jack up ticket prices for next season. lol

spoon.ek9 03-12-2025 01:37 PM

they're already planning to jack up prices next year, you may have missed that news

teggy604 03-12-2025 02:21 PM

Maybe someone here has season ticket can chime in... How much are they jacking it up and when is the renew deadline? I read its about 14%...

It's going to be close and at this point, after trade deadline, nothing more you can do. You're in that 8, 9, 10, 11th spot in the conference. Won't really affect your pick so that much, you might as well try your best to get a spot and gain some playoff experience. We all know it'd be out in one round. And depending on who you play in first round, it could be fun ... I really enjoyed the $15/$20 away games watching at Rogers Arena, a lot of fun and entertainment for $20 ... free towel at every game !! You know there will be at least 2 of those away games in the playoffs.

if those images are true, that's nearly 50% increase

spoon.ek9 03-12-2025 02:26 PM

I think it was JPat who did the math, Canucks would need to go 12-6 to finish the season to safely secure a playoff spot. I have absolutely no faith that will happen. My stance hasn't changed, even if they make it, they'll get stomped in the first round. Would LOVE to be wrong.

They would've been stomped even before JT was traded and Quinn got hurt.

I think all that matters for the next 2 years is doing whatever it takes to make sure Quinn wants to stay, even if it means squeaking into the playoffs if he believes the team is good enough to do it.

Renewal starts as soon as the team is done playing whether regular season or playoffs. Retention staff starts calling the day after. Also as long as there's still available seats left members can renew during preseason. I haven't renewed for the past 3 seasons, can't imagine what my old seats cost now

spoon.ek9 03-12-2025 03:59 PM

I remember something about some uproar last season over ownership not allowing some long time fans to renew their season tickets because of the pending price increase being implemented.
