I can see Raty as as 3C who wins faceoffs a la Malhotra. That's likely his ceiling which is totally acceptable at a low price point. The gaping hole in the lineup now is 2C and how they will address this is anyone's guess. The free agent market is looking thin for centers so it'll have to be via trade as there's really no one within the organization that can rise to that role.

yep... and one of EP2.0/Lek/Willander is going to have to be packaged if it's trade.
Can't get something good without giving up something good.

lol, my question is would he do it on an empty netter? Either the tie or the record breaker.
I think the coach said he doesn't care and will let it happen organically. But one has to wonder if it would suck if he gets put out there in an empty net situation for the big milestone goal that's going to be played on highlights for decades to come.

Probably not considering when he passed Gordie Howe you practically refused to score an empty netter but eventually gave in and did anyway because it was in front of the fans at home.
If Ovi breaks the record on an empty netter it’ll make for a lame highlight to replay over the years. I’ll never forget watching Gretzky “run” on the ice when he broke Howe’s record against the Canucks
