I know Canucks fans are cynical, and rightfully so, but this talk of losing Hughes is getting a bit much even for this fan group.

bobbinka 04-03-2025 07:03 PM

He doesn't even become UFA for another 2 seasons.

The way you guys talk about him, might as well trade him now....

I see what you guys are saying, but as a fan, I feel bad for Hughes! He's wasting his prime years with a team that doesn't seem to have a plan. I want to see him happy and succeed, even if it's with another team.

Besides, team loyalty is such a rare trait nowadays. Why stay with a stagnant team when you could go to a contender or play with your brothers.

Hughes can have a long chat with Conor McDavid ... who stuck with a shitty team for how long? 6-7 yrs ... failure after failure. It's only been the last 2-3 yrs that the Oilers showed some potential and start knocking on the door, reaching the finals.

Hughes is the one they should have been paying $9-11M/yr

Hondaracer 04-04-2025 07:16 AM

Hughes will get 14+ on his new deal. Really the Canucks Hope is just money and Captaincy.

The only thing I can think of that may sway him is that it seems he was pivotal in getting rid of Miller and he has seemed to back Petey along the way. So you can only hope he feels responsible in trying to turn this team around.

The problem is, it’s going to be another rebuild on the fly which will involve some ballsy moves in hopes you get another player who comes here and turns into another star like Miller did, which is almost impossibl to pull off

Mcdavid has draisaitl. And the team still haven't won a cup yet.

Hughes has nobody. EP40? Lol

EmperorIS 04-04-2025 11:35 AM

CANUCKS SO GOOD.

bobbinka 04-04-2025 12:15 PM

This team will be in the gutter for years without Quinn. There are no superstar prospects in the pipeline. They'll have to tank for a few years to try and draft high, hope those players turn out, and then build around them. Look at Chicago, even after drafting Bedard they're still years from turning it around.

I'd rather watch a mediocre team with Hughes than a mediocre team without Hughes.

spoon.ek9 04-04-2025 02:47 PM

bring Bedard home :alone:

that kid's soul is dying in Chicago lol

teggy604 04-04-2025 03:11 PM

Hughes to Chicago for Bedard? lol

Then wait till Celebrini is UFA (7 yrs), then sign him.

By then the next group in Willander, Dpetey, Mancini, and Lekkerimaki will also be in their prime.

spoon.ek9 04-04-2025 04:10 PM

I'm sure the more popular opinion would be to send Petey for Bedard somehow :lol

Ovechkin 1 away from tying goal record

Razor Ramon HG 04-04-2025 04:21 PM

Razor Ramon HG 04-04-2025 05:16 PM

Ovechkin has just tied!

SkinnyPupp 04-04-2025 05:17 PM

OVI TIES IT UP!

The traitor is in the house to watch it happen. Let's hope he scores the hatty to take the record

SkinnyPupp 04-04-2025 05:23 PM

For Ovechkin to tie the all time record in his era compared to the traitor's is absolutely unfathomable

People will assume empty net goals, but he only has 10 or 11 more of those, out of their 894

Hondaracer 04-04-2025 05:35 PM

Imo the newest player is always better than the old player, Ovi is a miracle all time athlete to stay healthy this long and next season he’ll break the all time hits as well insane

Crosby is better than Gretzky imo

A hard call is someone like Mike Bossy who scored a million goals but didn’t have the longevity

whitev70r 04-04-2025 05:36 PM

Ovi is playing possessed and has the Capitals in #1 spot in the East.

pastarocket 04-04-2025 05:40 PM

Great8 ties the Great One in career goals!

No. 894!

Bet you the whole team wants to be on the assist of his record breaking goal !

Last min and a half of play and Ovi has like 3 chances ... not EN either !!!!

SkinnyPupp 04-04-2025 05:46 PM

Ovi keeps getting chances with 1 minute left and Spencer Knight keeps making saves and gets booed every time EleGiggle

bobbinka 04-04-2025 05:51 PM

oh man, they should sit Ovi for the next away game so he gets to do it at home

SkinnyPupp 04-04-2025 05:52 PM

If he actually refused to play during the empty net, I hope he never scores another goal KEKW

If you were a goalie, wouldn't you want to go down in history? I mean let it in, he's at home ... :lol. I mean it's no shame to have Ovi score a goal on you and you will always be known as the goalie who Ovi scored on for the record.

bobbinka 04-04-2025 07:16 PM

i guess that's true, lol. the last guy who prevents him from breaking the record will never be remembered, but the guy who got scored on for the record will still be talked about years later.
