Wow, talk about Aquaman trying to milk out every dollar from Canucks fans. LUL

teggy604 04-07-2025 07:56 AM

Don't worry. Management will do more boneheaded moves in the future to try to get Hughes to stay.

Then Hughes decides to jump ship and Canucks are stuck with these players and their contracts.

^ Yah... starting with not trading and then re-upping on Brock at his ask

murd0c 04-07-2025 02:30 PM

The thing with Brock is he has great and is truly a good person. I would be ok if he signed a 6x8 deal or maybe even 8x8 but I wouldnt want him to sign for more.

68style 04-07-2025 03:21 PM

I don’t think the Canucks are good enough to give a guy $2M plus a year more than he’s worth and pay him well into his sunset just because he’s a nice dude

bobbinka 04-07-2025 03:48 PM

so who would the Nucks get to replace him and for how much?

Ehlers will be north of $8 mil, is a year older, has never scored more than 30 goals, but averages about 10 more points than Boeser. Many teams will try to land him, so you risk getting neither players if you go to free agency.

Brock Nelson? even older and less points.

Sam Bennett? same age, brings intangibles, but way less points.

IMO, unless Alvin works some magic to trade for a top 6F, the Canucks can't afford to not extend Boeser. They can trade him later, even for scraps if he doesnt live up to the contract.

SkinnyPupp 04-07-2025 04:08 PM

Brock's contract is worth as much as teams will pay him. If the Canucks want to be one of those teams, they have to meet his price or someone else will.

And then what?

Hondaracer 04-07-2025 05:09 PM

Rangers losing 3-1 to Tampa in the 3rd

Would feel fitting to see Miller miss the playoffs as well after all the BS

68style 04-07-2025 05:20 PM

They’re definitely out, 6 points behind Montreal with only 1 game in hand.

On that note, fuck the east bar is low for playoffs after the top tier teams… Montreal is running away with 8th at 85 points??? That’s tied with Cakgary for 9th in the west with us right behind at 83 lol

Hondaracer 04-07-2025 05:22 PM

On the Canucks Reddit I guess messier was shitting on the Rangers for their current predicament and someone there called him “scrotum head” :lol

Feels fitting, clown

Don’t forget last year was an anomaly for Boeser… 40 goals out of nowhere, he had 17 the year before that and was in mid 20’s other seasons and probably won’t hit more than 27-28 this year.

There’s a a lot of guys in the 25-30 goal range out there and they don’t cost $8M a season.

Razor Ramon HG 04-07-2025 05:35 PM

I really wouldn't care if Brock walked.

whitev70r 04-07-2025 07:01 PM

St. Louis finally lost ... they were on like a 12 game streak !! Jets get franchise record 53 wins!

spoon.ek9 04-07-2025 07:26 PM

Fans across the league (including Jets fans) won't care until they prove themselves in the playoffs. Harsh, but that's the reality. We've all seen it one too many times.

whitev70r 04-07-2025 07:38 PM

Yes, of course, there is no trophy for the most number of wins in franchise history.

teggy604 04-07-2025 09:29 PM

Let Brock walk and try to get Matthew knies from Toronto? Big power forward that can play physical and score. He got 52 points and 26 goals this season. He probably wouldn't command as much as Brock.
