Minny player (whoever the hell he is) should get at least 3-5 games suspension, 1 or 2 into the playoffs. |

I've been following the Canucks since they were in the Western Hockey League back in the 60's. Watched and heard every game year in, year out. I was a total fanatic. Stopped cold turkey last year....... or was it two years ago? Anyhow, looks like the team is not doing well. All I have to say is, better get me a $4 sandwich deal at McDonald's before the season ends. Oh, on a side note, I was at Save-On-Foods this past Saturday. They had a free tasting of the newest flavour of ice cream. The Canucks Ice Cream. Lol, it was typical anything, Canucks.......... lots of glitz and glamour, but nothing noteworthy. Not really bad, but disappointing, which is a Canucks theme, as of late. Anyway, here's to another 50 years of no Stanley Cup. Cursed we are. Perhaps missed the cup by a goal post. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl...-1994-1.996261 |
^Love the $4 burger reference :lol |
Kudryavtsev recalled under emergency conditions. Apparently he's had a solid season in Abby. 21 yo LHD 5'11 200lbs. |
Yah highest +/- on the team this year, only 26 points in 63 games but +17 must be pretty solid be interesting to see him in action. |
Nikita Tolopilo also gets the start tonight. |
Abbotsford Canucks Night ! everyone there in person tonight is there to watch local sensation Celebrini. How can North Shore produce 2 No. 1 picks 2 years in a row??!! |
Do we want Quinn to break Edler's record in the last game of this season, or start of next season?? |
I think it's meaningful but also not meaningful at the same time because he's done it so much faster. You can look at that as either a damning condemnation of how poor our D have been throughout franchise history or just how freaking good Hughes is. I think on a personal level, it's nice for him but he's more focused on how to make this team a success than worrying about records like this. Considering how crappy this season has been, I'd probably choose next season so we start off on a good note. Chances are he'll get at least a point in the final game though lol. |
Agree, it's a big deal for Canucks franchise history, but in the bigger picture, not THAT big of a deal. Esp after the Gr8 record ... no one is travelling with the Canucks to honour Hughes when it happens. But it would be nice for him to get a point in the last game, some sort of personal achievement in a disappointing season. |

Yah as great as Hughes is, doing it this fast is nothing but a reminder of the pitiful rotunda of offensive dmen we have had in this city for sure. Lots of great dmen but not from an offensive perspective. Salo was probably the closest thing we had goal scoring wise, though obviously less elegant, but he never had 1 foot out of the infirmary. |
yea, would be nice to start next season on a good note. having said that, even though this season was a complete disappointment compared to last season, i think there's some good takeaways here. if this season was considered "everything going wrong" (losing a player like Miller, Petey not performing and then injury, Hughes injury, Demko injuries, Joshua health, rotation of all other players being injured, all the various distractions), it's pretty amazing that we were still fighting for a wildcard spot in the last 10 games of the season with basically a half AHL roster. |
I think Hughes is fantastic, but this fanbase has a weird obsession of glazing our players too much. This whole thing about doing whatever Hughes wants us to do, such as overpaying certain players like Brock, or acting like he'll up and leave if we don't bring Tocchet back. I think we should bring Tocchet back, but let's not pretend Hughes isn't a professional who can't play with other coaches if things don't work out contractually. |
Lets say Hughes stays. Will the Canucks actually be contenders for the cup in 4 years time? |
Someone posted a selfie with Boeser from last night and on his passenger seat you could see a skate jersey signed by the entire team. If genuine, he's gone and I don't blame him. Sure, you can argue he isn't worth what he's asking for but this guy has given his all to this team on and off the ice. |
I thought Boeser directly said himself that he won't be back. But commentators say, 'Never say never'. If enough $$, maybe he would be ... I think he felt dissed and maybe too much drama in the Canucks roster and mgmt. Minnesota is his home town ... maybe there? |
He said it's very unlikely he's coming back but didn't 100% confirm he's made his decision. I'd be happy for him if Minny were to sign. He'd finally be close to home and be able to see his family more often. |
I think damage has been done, so at the very least, he's not going to lower his asking price. Great guy but he's really not worth that much more than DeBrusk. Unless there's no takers from any other teams, but unlikely, as there's always some team desperate for a player like him and willing to overpay because they have the cap space. |
I think Boeser is going to learn pretty quickly that there's precisely zero teams out there that want to give him both $8M a season and term. He still won't come back here because of pride, but I bet he signs for $6M somewhere else and all the bandwagoners will be like "Why didn't the Canucks sign him blah blah blah"... they tried. The Canucks severely fucked up not trading him for anything they could get though. Dan Hamhuis part 2. |
and it's precisely because they were using him as a rental for their own playoff push even though I'm sure the vast majority of us knew this team wasn't going to do shit even if we got in. this again leads me to believe in meddling from Aq at least to SOME degree. |
I’d be curious to see what the return would have been. If it’s a second and X it’s not a huge loss albeit you do lose just those extra chips in bargaining. I like Brock he’s been a loyal soldier for the team and a good goal scorer but him and Debrusk are pretty much interchangeable with Debrusk seeming to have a bit more upside potentially, at least at his price point Canucks can’t have two slow streaky guys playing the same game moving forward. If they were to keep brock it can’t be more than 7.5 or so |
DeBrusk isn't slow though, he has above average speed, wins more board battles etc. At this point he's an upgrade on Brock in every way but pure scoring. |
Toch just said he’s slow like yesterday lol Or at the very least he doesn’t play with pace away from the puck which I get are not necessarily the same thing but he’s definitely not a player who’s always playing with speed. Most of his goals are in close proximity to the net |
It is going to be a very interesting offseason for the Canucks in terms of free agents to sign and possible trades for a top 6 forward. The team has good depth at defence now. Would Allvin consider trading a d-man for a forward? What free agents are available to replace Boeser? I heard news reports that Allvin had a talk with Petey to encourage EP41 to stay in Vancouver to train in the offseason. What if Petey says "No" to staying in Vancouver and goes back to Sweden during the offseason? :considered: The No movement clause in his contract kicks in on July 1st. Will the Canucks keep Petey or trade him despite his low trade value now? |
