Is Honda interior protection package worth it? If not, any recommendations?

Hey folks
I just bought a new Honda Pilot and was given the option to protect my car by getting a Honda Plus protection package which includes interior protection spray, exterior protection, vulcanized undercoating, and rust inhibitor.

See picture:

It also includes a Witness Auto Dash Cam installation:
https://www.witnessautocam.com/

This whole thing comes to $1549 + tax.

Do you guys think this type of protection is worth it?

Out of the 4, I THINK what I care most about is protection against tree sap (I live in an area with a lot of trees and it's been a huge problem for my old car). I wouldn't mind the dash cam installation as well as they'll hide the wires and also set it up so that it'll record motion while your car is parked.

If you guys don't think it's worth it, do you have any recommendations locally to have tree sap protection + dash cam installation completed (I already own one but am willing to purchase a new one if it's a good package deal).

I unfortunately can't pick and choose at Honda as each service is really expensive individually and not worth it as I might as well just pay the minor difference for the whole package in that case.

I would say no. $1549 is a lot, and this is a value-added service (aka more money in the dealership's pockets.) Think of this has a big portion of your first year's insurance for the vehicle.

You have options. First is to find a local detailer to provide the treatment. Second is to do it yourself. If you have a track record of spilling coffee, soft drinks, food, bodily fluids etc. in your car, then perhaps this is something to consider, but not at the tune of $1549. Walk away.

NOPE, NOPE, NOPE. All garbage.

Interior protection is something you can easily do yourself with a bottle of Fabricguard. Exterior protection won't last more than a year. Undercoating is useless now b/c most cars have panels underneath anyways. Rust inhibitor is for a 1995 Mazda.

Thank you, I had my doubts on the value of the package for that price point.

Anyone have recommendations for tree sap protection or dash cam installation (for parking mode)? I assume any detailer/mechanic will be able to do it but if you guys have any recommendations I'd love to go with someone trustworthy.

Thank you!

The handwriting on the top looks like some finance woman trying to sell snake oil.

Dash can. MJ installs in Richmond. I got mine done for like 70 dollars 2 years ago.

Tree sap. Just don’t park underneath a tree. If you have no choice then wash it immediately

There's nothing that really "protects" against tree sap, sounds like some BS they made up to sell the product. Most detailers seem focused on removing tree sap:

Does Honda do this in house? When I worked at dealership back in the day they just send out all cars to shops that do this and dealership gets a cut. Its not a Honda product.

Some of the local honda dealers will do in house, some will sublet to another dealer or detail shop. Tell them you don't want the honda plus packages with the follow up and warranty but ask them how much to have it done. Try and get a price not worked into the financing. See if they'll offer that.

I guess if you're trying to keep the Pilot for 10 years, could be worth

Personally seeing a lot of family switch from the V6 Crossover to EV SUV as gas prices keep going up

Front dash cam install is really easy - two hour job for most cameras for people who are only mildly handy (like me). The rear takes more though and I'd get a pro for that and would probably get the folks from Blackboxmycar to do it (https://www.blackboxmycar.ca)

As for tree sap - nothing beyond a ceramic coating plus a handy bottle of CarPro TarX will do the trick for you. Even with a ceramic coating it's not going to just wash off, it'll just buy you time to get it off.

He’s all the way down on Desmond where it turns into lamond. I say neighbor loosely as it’s in that same monds area but I figure you must have driven past him when you go home or when you go up to no1 road.

Thanks folks.

I just booked an appointment at BlackBoxMyCar but now I'm wondering if MJ Installations is just as good? BBMC is $240+ whereas MJ is $175. Any recommendations? BBMC definitely has a more polished site vs MJ so I don't know if that speaks to the quality of their work.

Regarding interior cleaning, I bought Chemical Guys Inner-Clean All-Surface Car Interior Quick Detailer Spray for the general surface which I believe is vinyl. For the leather seats I'll be using Chemical Guys Car Leather Cleaner Spray and Car Leather Conditioner.

Haven't looked into CarPro TarX but I'll start doing some reading now. For the time being I'll just be vigilant and clean off any bird droppings/tree sap asap

You should be fine either way. Go with who you feel you can get along with. Pick up the phone and call

Or let trollface install it for you.

I'll eat my driveway if their installs are cleaner than mine.

Everything is labeled, shrink-wrapped, and soldered if needed on a $300 Hakko Station.

I buy a sack of screws from Rona just so I can find one that has Philip's head perfectly straight when tq'd down.
