That is one theory but the other one is that It is attributed to the French dish Pot au Feu which is a broth slow cooked with beef and vegetables.

Look at a map dude, Vietnamese is basically French-ified Jungle Cantonese. Their language has a fucking thousand tones like Canto and they have to write it out using an alphabet with a ton of chicken scratches cause the Frogs told them to.
