I went for claypot last year in Sai Ying Poon and it was great. I like the grunge little area. I got some really decent street shots of the ding ding and the old buildings. I wish I had my real camera with me.

i took the central escalators and ended up taking a mini bus down to sai ying poon. So I walked down hill hahaha. I almost PK a bunch of grannies in my way cuz the sidewalks are so narrow and I'm fat as fuck.

i just kept yelling SAY HOI laaa AH MO!!! and they got out of my way pretty quickly.

I hiked that shit in may, my backpack went from fiber to 100% sweat. One of my worst life choices.

Bonus that it was smoggy at the top and only 20% views.

Did get a sweet cityscape photo a few days later when it cleared tho from another location

Don’t get me wrong, the iPhone take some delicious shots but I’ve started “real photography” recently and it’s hard to go back to that tiny sensor and insanely sharp / over processed images.

My photog friend would disagree.. you know the one that shoots professionally. iPhones can do most of the things a DSLR can. The thing that makes a difference is that you need nice equipment for movement shots, like sports or racing for that 1 in a lifetime shot. He says, that's a matter of luck. All the other basics like framing can be done on the iPhone.

Tho he also says nO OnE aPPrEciATeS rEaL pHoToGrApHy anymore so... there's that.

I actually REALLY dislike the iPhone 16 Pro camera as a casual shooter

Before:
3X zoom was 80mm; perfect length for portraits because it does the right amt of compression of the background, bringing it closer to the subject

Now:
No 3X zoom, 1x-4.99x are all digital.
The backgrounds look way further away from the subject since it's 24mm.

New 5X zoom is like 120mm which is great for parents taking pics of their kids on the field or smth.
Gotta be standing crazy far away from the person you're taking pics of.

Aye of course it can do most things a phone camera can. The problem is it’s completely artificial. The bokeh produced by a cellphone is software processed and it looks weird due to the outline of the subject is often improperly cut out or edges are blurry and undefined.

Your average shmoe won’t appreciate that sort of thing but if you take photos as a hobby and learn more about it, you start looking down upon the images taken by cellphones. Depth of field is lacking, dynamic range is lacking, and their so called 48megapixel is basically just an upscaled 4x 12mbs image. Also When you crop that 12mbps image down on the 2.0 or some other NONE prime lens the result is horseshit. It’s terrible! As alluded above. Try and look at the image on the 4.99 magnification. It’s trash.

Because photography is worthless, you can get any image you want, online, in full resolution, for free. Product, real estate, and weddings have some scraps for the desperate ones trying to make it

It’s not that it’s worthless, just a whole different vibe.

Their idea of luxury is less performative and less about perfection — it’s about spending time with friends and building community.
Hosting a DJ set at a pizza shop? In.
Running a coffeehouse for creatives? In.
Travelling to Morrocco or Salvador for Carnaval? In
Partying in Ibiza? Out.
Dropping $$$ at Carbone or some fancy steakhouse? Cheugy.

Same deal with cameras.
It’s not about getting the perfect shot; it’s about capturing raw, candid moments.
Is why the X100V, XT-5, and G7X are flying off shelves.

And cars?
They’re skipping the millennial "entry-level luxury" (C300, A3, 330i) and going for stuff that actually feels fun to drive—NA/ND Miatas, 86s, and air-cooled 911s.

well thank you hipsters i was able to recover like 70% of what i paid for a P&S 8 years ago

mind you, it was one of the last rx100's so still very capable like making cinematic 4k out of the burst images

i totally get why a pro would say that about mobile images; it reduces their workflow and vast majority are viewing on a phone downrez'd in an app, not pixelpeeping on a reference monitor

If you're shooting for any kind of actual media, both digital and printed, work. A cellphone is not going to cut it unless it's just Instagram and TikTok.

for years ive tried not to bite the bullet and use a cellphone camera. But it seems like the modern day cellphones are capped out in their imaging capabilities.

Flexibility of having a giant penis lens for ultra zoom and a ultra wide angle almost fish eye lens is unmatched.

I really regret not shooting my puppy wuppy chihuahua before he went to the big dog park in the sky. All I got left is iPhone photos.... which is okay, but just... not as good.

Precisely. The IG photogs have a much larger following and if the method to market is via social media, it's much harder. How else are you going to market photos though?

When the lighting is good, probably not. Since most of the shots on his website has decent lighting, it's pretty hard to tell the difference. Its the long ranges / low light conditions, then you can tell the difference.

Hell sometimes even in low light, my iPhone can take a better and cleaner shot than the mirrorless camera.

Thats why I hesitated so long to buy a real camera.

The phone cams have so much post processing which makes certain hard to shoot scenarios easier. There's no skill involved with a cellphone in low light, but you need to know what you are doing with a camera.

Can you light paint with a cellphone? I don't think there's options to set exposure, iso, and aperture unless you are using a phone that's dedicated photography like the Sony Xperia Pro line. The problem with the Sony is the software is kind of terrible to use. Trying to fiddle with stuff on screen really means you'll miss the shot.

Most untrained eye won't be able to tell, but you can definitely pick up post processing by the phone if you know what to look for. For fast media like IG most ppl simply won't care.

ProCam X on Android is supposed to give the user full control on all the exposure settings. It was free on the Google App Store a while back.

I did!!! i bought this 50 dollar adapter from amazon so I can use my dad's old 1970's lenses. Its pretty sweet! surprisingly sharp.. in my photography thread, that first moon shot with the branches was taken by this takumar lens.
