You can get arnot but from reviews I read it's a hit and miss, ride quality not as good as OEM? And the shocks aren't adjustable. So if your car has comfort sport settings you lose those. I'm not even sure if you will get error lights as the arnot doesn't have anywhere to plug your factory wiring.

there's 2 types

1) arnott remanufactured: they take the MB OEM cores and rebuild, keeping the sport/comfort setting

2) 'new from arnott' which doesn't ahve any adjustability and worse ride qualtiy.

I was hesitant with buying a X5 with bags, but really the costs don't seem that bad. At around $300 a corner for an OEM air strut, you are paying that much easily for a regular shock. The BMW compressors seem to be fairly reliable and there's minimal complaints on them.

These aren't Range Rover air suspension, we aren't Doug Demuro.

OEM merc is like $1000 USD each before labour. However there are these China no name ones on eBay for $200 each, if labour cost wasn't too high it can be worth the risk

Yea, that looks awesome!!!

On the topic of bags... I know my manager spent something like $4K on his century, I am not sure if it was only bags or bunch of other things, but when I heard aobut it, I am like why not just do coils and he is like... nah, coilovers ruins the ride.

I think for a century it's due to how rare the car is, I don't think you can just find aftermarket replacements, or how parts shared it is with Lexus. It's either some how OEM over night from Japan or custom order from Japan aftermarket companies. Still thinking if a century is worth getting for da v12? So I can have the final boss Corolla.

I wonder how it is compared to Lexus LS430. The LS is smooth but how much better can it get. The LS actually gets kinda boring to drive cuz how boaty and soft it is. I wonder how the century mpg is but everything in the century just seems more dated compared to LS.

Wow, Faculty lot at SE6. Any of your colleagues comment on your car? I had a prof make a comment on my 2002 BMW 330ci, smt along the lines of a balling car, but that car was 6K and falling apart haha.

^ Consumables probably aren't that bad if you aren't an idiot about it. Sure it's definitely gonna be more than your Tesla, but it's not extreme if you don't track it.

It's quite the sticker shock when you price out pads and rotors for the RS6, same as AMG cars.

Don't disagree that they are expensive, but just bumming around on the street they last forever. I'm still on original rotors on my M3 and I've been to multiple trackdays and autox. Pads aren't cheap but you aren't going broke on just pads. I'm on my third set of pads.

Insurance will probably kick you ass first before consumables.

Service guy said to service front and back brakes it's a $16k job. I wanted to spec it with ccbs, but apparently Audi is saving the ccbs for the R8s.

As for insurance the RS6 is not on the rg list, where as the RS7 is on the list.

I'm curious what the cost break down is. I believe dealership rates are at $280/h now. IIRC I was given a 9k estimate for doing the brakes on my M3 at the dealer.

Overdrive does my pads and I get out for like $700, I'm not using OEM pads though

OEM rotors were $1200 for a set a few years ago when I asked a friend who worked at the dealer. Retail though is something like $2k + tax.

The RS6 has even bigger brakes and rotors than my M3, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are something like 4-5k retail for a set of rotors, more if they have that jagged edge rotor thing that Audi likes to do.
