is cold plunge becoming more common? i've seen a cold pool at a new community centre pool in richmond but i don't see it at any public pool in east van |
For anybody with goals for hypertrophy or gains, note that recent research shows cold plunging shortly after workout, although may improve recovery, can hinder gains. It works well for athletes who need to recover quickly to perform next, however in terms of hypertrophy it probably is not ideal. If you really have to do it for its mental benefits (which I believe there are personally), then do it after a certain window or before a workout. |

3 eggs, 1 avocado, hot sauce, salt and pepper to taste. Lunch: Sashimi / green salad with Japanese ginger dressing & diced cucumber OR Greek spiced chicken breast with side of mixed greens Dinner: Steak grilled with salt and pepper, with side of asparagus cooked in butter, glass of red wine OR Roast chicken breast and broccoli with tahini sauce. OR Crab cooked with lemon and butter, on the side: carrots, peas, brussel sprouts I guarantee, I would bet my LIFE, that anyone following this diet would drop weight so fast. You don't even have to exercise beyond a walk or two a day. Losing weight is sooooooooooooo easy... it is just EXPENSIVE. Right now I'm sooooooooo poor I gained weight because I can't afford to eat the above meals. I stick to bacon and eggs for breakfast, a chicken burger with fries for lunch, and meatballs with garlic toast for dinner, and cheap alcohol for comfort. |
oh god... its already the 2nd week of march |
Q1 complete! |
i've been trying to stay disciplined and peaked at 151.x woke up today at 152.4 will see how long/far i can ride this wave :nyan: |
I went through like 3 months of core training with a personal trainer twice a week. Then I did about 6 weeks or so of strength training doing heavier and heavier lifts… now I’m just starting a 3 month hyper trophy phase. All told I’m about 15lbs heavier than I was when I started but not fatter, so all muscle I guess… in almost every way I feel way better and more stable and stronger and agile. The only thing I will say that I feel is a negative is that besides always being hungry I feel like at thr floor hockey I play once a week that I’m a bit slower with the extra weight? Maybe just my imagination but I feel like my top end burn speed is a bit down. |
You're definitely going to be slower given the extra muscle mass, but you'll be more explosive at the same time (hopefully). You'll also have better endurance in the physical aspects of the game, though I'm not sure how much that benefits in floor hockey, per se. That's always going to be the unfortunate trade off when putting on muscle mass. I used to box in the amateurs before pivoting into bodybuilding, and I noticed a very definitive loss of snap to my punches from all the weight lifting, I'm much slower throwing and snapping the punch nowadays on the heavy bag as opposed to back in the day when I was 40lbs lighter. |
Also that extra muscle will be key for injury prevention. Good shit Rich |
