RC & RC-F are killed off. 2025 final year

https://pressroom.lexus.com/2025-lex...ous-swan-song/

for all you guys who like the RC / RC-F get one this year or else they'll be gone forever.. no more 2GR FKS on the RC 300/350, no more 2UR GSE v8 on the RC-F.... RIP one of the nicest cars lexus ever made.

I wish they would have released a special color or something for the final edition.

JDMDreams 01-16-2025 06:52 AM

Wtf I didn't know they had a 3.5 V6 with 260hp and a 3.5 V6 with 311 hp. I wonder how the turbo 4 banger is, no one talks about those. But damn rcf is over $100k

Badhobz 01-16-2025 07:00 AM

yeah they got 2 variants of this v6 and they killed off the turbo 4 a few years ago (same with the IS). I guess it wasn't reliable enough for Lexus and yet they threw that turbo 4 into the NX...

Edit: oh I guess this is the USA, they have the turbo 4. In Canada they discontinued the turbo 4 a while ago.

bcrdukes 01-16-2025 07:07 AM

It's a weird price point to place this vehicle in competition with other marques. It's not a great track weapon and it's just...overall not great. It's just a reliable Toyota. What surprises me even more is Vasser Sullivan's dedication to campaigning the RC-F in the IMSA series, which surprisingly, has taken a lot of podium and series wins.

Having said that, I love the RC-F. :D

RIP RC & RC-F. :alone:

Badhobz 01-16-2025 07:13 AM

Yeah they priced it like a m3 with a 5-10k discount but the performance is more like a m340i.

It’s weirdly price and not that performant but the build quality and overall longevity makes it compelling enough to own for the long run. I mean look at the OG ISF prices vs a similar e90 m3

trollface 01-16-2025 08:17 AM

3.5 V6 with 260hp and a 3.5 V6 with 311 hp

And that's why it sucks

68style 01-16-2025 08:32 AM

I thought it's the same engine just with a diff tune... I have seen some videos where people "unlocked" their 300's

Badhobz 01-16-2025 08:37 AM

Isn’t this Toyota v6 the same one in the lotus ? If so why couldn’t you just slap a supercharger on it and get a cheapie RC F

radeonboy 01-16-2025 08:47 AM

I'm surprised the RC lasted as long as it did - they didn't sell well here but I see a ton of them in Vegas / SoCal.

That's what I was told at the dealer - it's a detuned 350 via the ECU. I don't think they'll miss the RC-F either - those mostly sat in the showroom when a unit gets allocated.

I'll miss the model but it is a hard sell at full MSRP. The build quality on these is classic Lexus, though that doesn't translate through the spec sheet.

Badhobz 01-16-2025 09:50 AM

With this announcement, the last V8 Toyotas are down to the LC500 and IS500.

Both are rumoured to disappear by 2026 (final year). The v8 engine started lexus in 1989 with the OG LS400 and now its the last of the breed.

JDMDreams 01-16-2025 10:19 AM

Yea for the price I'll just pick up a used gsf or lc500. It's way too expensive for what it offers, not practical, but also not sport enough. Also honestly is coupes just don't look good, there's this odd proportion with them.

noclue 01-16-2025 10:30 AM

Toyota didnt really invest/care for the RC/IS. Still using the same platform previous gen. Crap interior. They just wanna make more hybrid SUV’s.

Even my favorite lexus, the LS seem to be on its last legs.

bcrdukes 01-16-2025 10:37 AM

Can we surmise the death of the LS/LC as well?

trollface 01-16-2025 10:39 AM

All V8 V6 are gonners

Badhobz 01-16-2025 10:44 AM

^ yeah they are looking to replace all the ICE engines with this boring thing 2.0L i4 thing. Just turning up the boost for performance applications.

https://www.motor1.com/news/747076/t...-turbo-engine/

So basically what VW group does with their EA888 and now it's in everything from Porsche's to Audi's

68style 01-16-2025 10:49 AM

Have you ever felt like the EA888 in your Hitlerbox sounds like a flat 4? I notice it a lot when I start up off lights, gets that unequal lenght headers sound to it somehow?

Badhobz 01-16-2025 10:51 AM

not a clue... i dont think it sounds very good.

All turbo4s sound like that - even my Type R

JDMDreams 01-16-2025 11:18 AM

Yea, I dunno what Lexus is doing. I don't even see that many new is with the light bar tail lights around and you occasionally see a rc. I'm not in the market for a SUV, no more gs and LS is V6 which makes it worse than Genesis now. Seems to be turning into boomer brand. I don't think that Yaris hot hatch is coming here.

Badhobz 01-16-2025 11:20 AM

waddya mean TURNing into a boomer brand, its always been a boomer brand. The only time they were able to get kids to buy their stuff was when the original IS300 was released and it had those clear taillights

JDMDreams 01-16-2025 11:30 AM

They were trying so hard to unboomer themselves with the is, F, and the spindle grill, all the Kevin nugyens with is350 or the poor ones with the 250. Now they discontinue everything for SUVs. I guess cuz they all turned into Uncle Nguyen by now.

trollface 01-16-2025 12:11 PM

Lexus has always been a boomer brand.

IS350 is a joke if you actually wants a even remotely sporty car. The entire IS series drives like a coma.

Traum 01-16-2025 12:20 PM

I see enough UX and NX around to think that Lexus should still be selling OK. In some cases, I have also come across RZ as well, although there are definitely way more bZ4X and Solterra around. But by and large, I feel like Tesla has stolen a lot of Lexus' lunches here in Metro Vancouver.

Ux= ct200 the Toyota Prius. Even nx is tiny, I don't know why anyone who wants a lifted SUV will buy a nx. That's like a cx30 there's literally no point if you plan to haul babies with it.

bcrdukes 01-16-2025 12:59 PM

I'm thinking the UX or the NX might be the Corolla Cross and not the CT200?

The CT200 chassis is similar to my Corolla/Scion iM and is of a different platform.
