It's bigger works with Nintendo Switch 1 games.

Expected a bit more from it in terms of an update but Nintendo always plays it safe.. can’t really help but feel this is a 1.5 gen update like Wii-Wii U unfortunately.

Made a tidy 20% gain though since August in Nintendo stock based purely on switch Xmas sales (unfortunately doesn’t look like it became the best selling console of all time as I had expected yet) and the switch 2 release… so sell and take my profits or hold on and see the gains this thing generates..

With the Switch 2 coming out, I wonder how much the current Switch's price would drop by?

The little person has been bugging me about getting a Switch for some time, but I'm not sure if I went to be the enabler to all that extra screen time (and the accompanying myopia that will develop)...

They will slash it if nothing else to take that title of best selling console of all time. Although Nintendo is stingy AF with their prices I’d still expect a 15-20% cut

They'll say more about it in the Nintendo Direct in a few weeks

I'll just say don't get too hyped about how powerful it'll be. Like the Switch, it'll be "just powerful enough". Compared to the Switch it'll seem insane, but that came out 8 years ago. Compared to other handhelds like the ROG Ally, forget it. Probably even the Steam Deck.

I’ve played it on PS5 in the last year or so and the switch version looked like a 20 year old game lol..

Kinda disappointing because you’re exactly right, just more $90 Nintendo exclusives and you’ll play everything else on PC or PS5/Xbox

I mean, the switch earned its spot as one of the best selling consoles of all time, it’s a fantastic piece of hardware and they really reinvented the handheld, but kind of annoying I’m gonna shell out another $800 to play the next Zelda title..

Some of those games are so fucking good though

For a lot of people it's suitable as their primary gaming device (like my sister, whose Switch I used to play some of these games). For others, it's a lot to ask if you already have a console or gaming PC

I'll probably get sucked into buying one when they announce the next 3D Mario platformer. I imagine this will initially revert back to an LCD screen at launch to keep the price down and then in a couple years they'll bust out the OLED version to pump up sales again.

Man, I can't believe it's been eight years. I remember grabbing mine on release day from London Drugs like it's yesterday.

i remember getting mine jan 2020 (couldn't find one for xmas) but got one in jan post xmas to surprise my oldest, but then covid hit and we opened it when everyone was sent home and locked down...5 years ago just like that.

i don't play too many exclusives, smash, and my oldest plays splatoon, but i think a better process will be well received.

i try to play overwatch 2 and man it lags at times lol

i hope EB gives a good trade in for the upgrade... i don't really have a need to keep an old switch, i don't 'pirate' or mod games.

You’ll likely get much more selling it privately, doubt EB is gonna give you much for one unless you trade it in like right now.

Depending on what they are worth may just keep mine for travel then I wouldn’t care if it got stolen or lost

I think the release-window Switches are still able to sell for a decent price since they can be easily modded with a homemade jig (or buy one for <$10 from Amazon).

I'm going to get the Switch 2 when it becomes available. I'm hyped for the next Mario Kart.

So it's gonna be $630 in Canada, and the games are $80USD for digital and an extra $10 for a physical copy so yeah... Don't think I'm gonna be getting this at launch. Not even an OLED screen for that price ouch.

I’ve been seeing online there is a chance to get a pre-sale if you’re a Nintendo online member and have X amount of hours played? I definitely qualify if that’s the case so I guess I’ll be getting a launch one if it’s legit.

No OLED but it does have HDR and 120 Hz refresh, so it's a good screen

The price is insane unless you buy the Japan only version. But then you're limited to the Japanese store for games and software etc.

I am a Nintendo guy and I will not miss this! Mario Kart World looks awesome. That crazy cow from Moo Moo Meadows sealed the deal.

Curious how well it's gonna sell, I know it's Nintendo and it'll sell at launch but after the dust settles are people willing to shell out $800 after taxes with a game? Nintendo used to be the cheaper option lol. Guess it's also dependant on how much Trump fucks the world economy.

I think my switch might get 10% of my playing time compared to my PS5 so I think I'll hold out for awhile. No Mario platformer at launch either which is usually my favorite.

The $800 or so I paid for switch 1 probably worked out to Pennies a minute with all the games I played, probably 100+ hours with both Zelda’s, Mario galaxy gotta be 60-70 and then all the classics, coop games etc.

I agree it’s a bit of a tough pill to swallow initially but over its lifespan it’s pretty good value

I almost never play online with mine so if a hack comes out this time around I’d be very tempted

Generally I find consoles to be good value when you factor in the time spent using it, with my PlayStation there's so many good games I can wait until they are dirt cheap before I buy them. We're talking like $20 for a AAA game. Nintendo is only worth buying their first party games and those fuckers never go on sale lol.

Anyways every time I get sucked in to buying a Nintendo to play the same 5 fucking games and I'm sure it'll happen again this time eventually lol

Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong are Switch 2 exclusives. Some third party games might still support both but don't expect any of Nintendo's first party games going forward to be released on Switch 1.
