Blackberry Blue & Red Triangle

Calling out for help on this one. I recently got a BB Pearl and am a little puzzled by the different roaming triangles. There is a blue one and a red one (or at least those are the ones I noted so far). I was just wondering, what is the difference between the two?

I think that both are for roaming features but if anyone can tell me what the blue and red ones are for specifically, I would greatly appreciate it.

Blue I thought is for roaming as in for calls/sms and standard stuff like that
Red I thought is for roaming for data

Correct me if I'm wrong. I also do not have a data plan and hence turned off the data function on the phone. Could this be why I have a red triangle?

Is it safe to assume you're on Fido?

You're right about the triangles. One surefire way to determine whether you have data or not is if you look at the letters on the top right hand corner along with your signal bars. If the letters show something like gprs/edge as opposed to GPRS/EDGE then it means you don't have data. Uppercase letters denote you have been granted access to the data network.

Yes.

The sim card is with Fidos and the BB Pearl is a unlocked Rogers. I have changed it from EDGE to edge and the red triangle appeared.

I just wanted to make sure that i'm not doing any kind of roaming that will charge me money. So am I right to assume it is for roaming wireless? So as long as I don't use the internet, I won't have to worry, right?

Roaming wireless only matters if you're not in Canada.
