recommendations for external HDD & optical drive?
 

i'm now in the market for an external hard drive for backup purposes (maybe a photo gallery also), as well as an external cd/dvd burner. this is meant for laptop/netbook purposes, and portability is a must.

the only thing i know is to find something that gets power from a USB port.

any of the samsung or asus ones should work fine. They use a dual usb cable although I've always been able to burn with just a single usb connection.

build ur own external hd @ ncix, warranty's probably longer too.
