Replacement router suggestion
 

my D-Link DIR-655 is crapping out on me for a long time already, it restarts itself every so often, somewhere along the lines of 10-20 times a day, very annoying. i think im gonna replace it, but not sure what i should replace it with. any suggestions out there?

WRT54GL + DD-WRT + high gain antennas. Add more of this same package and use them as a repeater if you need to increase the coverage.

I think the Asus N routers are fantastic, and very well priced.

I just picked up an ASUS WL 520GU for $30 and flashed it with tomato. Great router if you have any non-N devices (only buy an N router if all your devices are N compatible btw otherwise you are wasting your money).

D-link 615 is a decent cheap router. Linksys WRT54GL is always a good choice too.

i wanna see an obsolete router like that handle 1000+ connections at the same time. its gonna crash so quickly once you have multiple BT on

1000+ connections configured on a BT client, on your typical Vancouver internet connection is...unwise. you'll probably lose a lot of potential speed both up and down. Remember, the number of connection does not correlate with the download speed. More is not often better. You will over saturate your available bandwidth, and experience in a decrease of speed.

Based on my personal experience, I downloaded 12 torrents of some popular media, with over 150 seeders each, from a private torrent tracker. No problems at all.

Been terribly unsatisfied with my DIR-615 that I got a few months ago now. I got it to replace of all things, an older D-Link router, as well.

I recently got the Asus RT-N13U and will let you know how that is, but from all reviews, Asus routers seem to be fairly solid.

try downloading BT at full bandwidth and streaming HD content + file transfers throughout the network and see if your router still works :haha:

Its a waste of time attempting to do anything while using torrent. Torrent kills BW, regardless of the router.
