i like these 2, but i dont know about this "train" guy.

AstulzerRZD 02-05-2026 11:25 AM

Train guy K swapped a fit & worked at rolls Royce
Seems like a James May type guy

Badhobz 02-05-2026 11:27 AM

yeah but James May is/was a classy aristocratic bloke..... I've never met an American / Canadian who fits that role well. How much you wanna bet this guy is going to wear a truckers hat and talk with a southern drawl

Manic! 02-05-2026 11:39 AM

Anyone who k swaps a fit is good in my books.

JDMDreams 02-05-2026 12:58 PM

I thought Clarkson said there was gonna be some big announcement

Dbone 02-05-2026 01:02 PM

Hah, this was a very poorly kept secret. Francis is kind of annoying, but he has a big tic tok following from what I've heard.

I think he just wrapped up a series with Chris Harris (which is probably why the delay) so maybe he's tolerable?

I guess we'll see.

noclue 02-05-2026 02:47 PM

I get they are trying to appeal to gen z but a train foamer with a large tiktok presence?

Glad they chose throttlehouse instead of thestraightpipes

Badhobz 02-05-2026 02:50 PM

straightpipes is the worst. especially that yuri guy... such a lame personality.

bcuzracecarz 02-05-2026 03:39 PM

I think Thomas and James fit the bill perfectly, nice to see Canadians getting this massive opportunity. Their content is great and know cars well enough to form knowledgeable opinions that people can relate to. Definitely interested to see how they fit / mesh with Francis, he’s….unique.

I've always hated how they (Yuri mostly) shamelessly begged for subs multiple times in each video. Made me want to un-sub from them, which I did.

underscore 02-05-2026 09:32 PM

I only know the train guy a tiny bit, I've never seen the other two before. If they're decent dudes then I hope it goes well for them but I doubt I'll watch it. Almost all new cars are boring and without CHM the chemistry won't be the same either.

Dbone 02-06-2026 08:11 AM

You haven't seen any throttle house? Have a look on youtube, they have some great videos.

For example: Two V12 Legends For Less Than A Toyota Corolla

Train guy is British...

With a name like Francis Bourgeois (not real name) how could he not be aristocratic?

Badhobz 02-06-2026 10:22 AM

He looks like donk on fent

BIC_BAWS 02-06-2026 11:21 AM

Donk already looks like he's on fent

I have not. Car reviews are worthless and most Youtubers aren't very good so I never watched any of them. Cheap old cars are much more interesting so I'll give that video a watch.

That was pretty entertaining. It's too bad they got robbed twice.

what... you missing out bruh...

roastpuff 02-09-2026 11:12 AM

Yeah, what? You're missing out!

James & Thomas have the best balance between humour, actual informative car reviews, and a distinct style/chemistry between the two. Cammisa is a bit too snarky for me but the production quality of his videos are through the roof.

Outside of those two channels it's a mixed bag for car reviews (typically bad).

bcrdukes 02-09-2026 11:27 AM

I'm personally very happy for James and Thomas. I've really enjoyed their channel. As roastpuff mentioned, they've got a great formula and blend of everything without offending anyone. Also, this puts Canadian talent on the global stage, so I'm always supportive of that. I hope they do really well and don't forget about enthusiasts like us!

I'm sorry, do you not enjoy Out Of Spec Reviews' multi-hour-long format? Exhaustively poring over every detail about every aspect of the vehicle, along with every conceivable opinion one could have about each of those things?

No cuts! Single take or nothing!

Like I said I don't see any value in car reviews so I don't watch any car review channels. M539 Restorations and Bad Obsession Motorsport are about the only things I watch on YT. I caught a bit of Cammisa when Sreten was visiting him once and he seems like a decent enough guy but he has that typical "loud American" way of talking that I'm not a fan of watching.

bcrdukes 02-09-2026 04:36 PM

I'm probably an outlier in this, but similar to underscore, I don't watch car review channels religiously or take them seriously. Throttle House has developed both entertaining content while being playful and practical. There are some car review channels where it's a total snooze and reminds me why I dislike car reviews.

EvoFire 02-09-2026 05:36 PM

There are a few that I watch. Cammisa with Hagerty has great production value, I'm surprised they are even on YT. Throttle house is funny and they have some good takes. I watch SG for their deep dives and opinion pieces.

A car channel but not reviews I like is superfastmatt. TDC is not bad but I don't watch everything. Bigtime has been fun with their big truck and recently the Aliexpress AE86 build
