as for the BHG on Mr. WRXs parents car, if you really want the car, get an inspection done on it, and get them to do a leakdown test. there are a few shops around here that charge about $85 to get it inspected, and they give you a sheet of everything that is wrong with the car. my sister got her VW done, it needed new tires, new struts, and a few misc things.
what year was that car? dont jump into it if your unsure, its better to get all the financials going and then find a car thats worth the money.
regarding loans, the loan i got for my car was a personal loan, not an auto loan. there are a few differences. i had to put up my MKIII and my old car as collatoral for the loan, so if i defaulted on the loan, the bank would take both cars. but i only owe $1500 on it now, i might pay it off in march
