i had it for awhile when i lived in an area where i couldn't get DSL. i stay connected (via ssh) to my home server from work, and on Shaw, i'd without-fail get disconnected on average of 3 times per day. i could reconnect again right away, but it was still disconnecting me. also, for gaming, i found that on cable, i'd get 80-100ms ping on average, whereas with DSL it's more like 50ms, and often even lower than that.
overall, shaw was faster though, as far as maximum download speeds. i prefer the slightly lower latency that comes with the DSL connection, though.
this is just my experience. YMMV.
