at this step:
(a+b)(a-b) = b(a-b)
if you were to substitute back at this point, since a=b, then a-b = a-a which = 0.
so (a+b)(0) = b(0)
0 = 0
or, if you divide the left side by (a-b), ending up with:
(a+b)(a-b)
-----------
(a-b)
you can't do this either, because this is a divide by 0.
