In PvP BG instances. With track abilities especially in Warsong hunters are so valuable.
So with great pulling skills, able to tranq mag (which is a MUST), able to be the top content DPS with minimal healing, we are far form useless in high end instances. If you are looking for useless, you are thinking of Mages besides Imps and Domo.

Mages are usually right after rogues in dps in MC (maybe a few warriors if they are equipped like crazy), so I hardly think they're useless.. I think you may have mistaken that fire mages make up the total population of mages
