I hope that I can only voice my opinion here(and do so respectively, and I do apologize if this is taken any other way, because it would be so without intention) as I have been a member for a couple of years and am friends with many on this site.
Revscene has become a site that I frequent not just for the interesting and influential content on cars, lifestyle etc., but because the people on here are decent people. Many I have met and really consider friends, despite the fact that I may disagree with much that is said on here by them.
All of the people that I have had the pleasure of meeting in person on here are decent, considerate people, so I'm confused at the continuing escalation of this problem. Perhaps it's the anonymity that the internet gives someone, but I think if everyone were to conduct themselves a little more like they do at meets etc. (because for the most part everyone is very respectful in person) then there would not be a problem right now. But that is just my opinion.
I am a little confused by some of the comments made. For one, "overzealous" kids are what perpetuate the scene of car enthusiasts , so perhaps I missed the point of this comment. As well, maybe everyone is not hearing or properly responding to your explainations because (and I honestly don't fault you, becuase I would be on the defence if I was in your position as well) they are shrouded in defensive language that people are reacting to instead of understanding the points you are trying to make.
I hope this is not seen as "stirring the pot", and I originally refrained from this discussion for just that reason, but I honestly think that people need to be reminded that the people that post on this site are awesome people. They all have different opinions, values and lifestyles, but ultimately they are all here for the same reason, and in person, at meets, this is the only thing that seems to matter. I hope that puts a little bit more perspective on the situation.
I honestly don't think further exclusion from this site simply becuase of differing opinions is the answer. Maybe just a little bit more understanding and respect when people are posting is all that is needed, because obviously (and what I would see as a weak, unfounded argument anyways) just becuase this is the internet, doesn't mean that your are afforded anonymity and the liberty to disrespect others for various trivial reasons. Most everyone knows everyone else on a personal level in this forum, and that eliminates the ability to do that sort of thing without truly offending anyone because there is a lack of anonymity.
Sorry this is so long winded, but if you know me (like most of you do!) then you know this is just how things get done when I speak, lol.
