Hi, I have a rather strange question to ask...

I want to get into photography but I don't want to spend over $500, at least not immediately. Is this possible?

I find taking pictures fun and interesting enough that I want to take it up as a hobby, but I'm not satisfied with the standard "point and shoot" cameras, because I feel really restricted. I want something where I can manually adjust focus at varying distances, take really close up shots without getting blurred images, and have the ability to take good, bright, crisp pictures in darker settings.

I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
