HFC Networks Analyst

Shaw Cablesystems G.P., the leading entertainment and communications company, has an exciting opportunity for an Networks Analyst in our Victoria office. Reporting to the Manager, Technical Operations, the successful candidate will be accountable for proactively monitoring Shaws Internet and Digital Services.
Accountabilities:
Confirm issues reported to the Operations Centre through technical triage and troubleshooting, and escalate them to the appropriate group(s) for resolution
Accurately communicate all customer-impacting issues, in a timely manner, to appropriate local and national cross-functional teams, including management
Provide assistance to the Head End and Plant Operation teams in maintaining our new and existing networks
Troubleshoot network equipment and software problems
Provide support to technical staff and Customer Care department
Create, monitor and complete information in ticketing and/or other reporting systems for analysis and recommendation
Manage our network services to ensure a high standard of customer care and service
Coordinate branch change management activities ensuring schedules and impact limits are properly prepared and managed
Assist in developing Operations Centre processes and procedures
Various other duties as required
Recommended Skills and Qualifications:
A degree/diploma in telecommunication or electronics technology complemented by three to five years related experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent troubleshooting and deductive reasoning skills
Experience with HFC network operation including RF and optical systems
Familiarity with various Internet/Digital protocols and services
Operational and troubleshooting experience with UNIX, DOS/Windows, TCP/IP and Ethernet environments is considered an asset
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Team player with the ability and initiative to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
Ability to work various shifts including days, night, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays
A positive, can-do attitude and customer focused approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity
