The Portman Bridge is haunted:
"The Portman Bridge is said to be visited every October by a group of spectre beings...not of this time. back in the late 1800's a group was heading to the Point Ellis house for a dinner. It had been raining for some time and the ground was soft. When they came to the bridge to get to the Point Ellis House some of the horses reared as if they knew what was about to happen. The horses did eventually cross with the carriages, but, a few didn't make it as the bridge gave way and the horses, carriages and passengers fell some 30 feet to the riverbed below. it is said that some did survive, but for those that didn't they still walk the banks swinging their gas lamps and calling out to their loved ones. One more foot note on this story...The Point Ellis House is said to be haunted as well!"
