competition is very intense in the internet industry.
sasktel here in saskatchewan which is an equal to telus in bc/alberta is fighting tooth and nail to keep up with shaw. they're blowing 400 million in the next few years to launch vdsl technology which is capable of 45mbits per second within a i "think" a 1km range.. literally every foot you are away from the switch, the slower you get.
i know telus has just dumped alot of money into internet, but there is no point.
you cant compete with cable.
companies dump millions trying to get fibre optics closer to homes. only to than send the information down a bottle necked phone line.
while a cable company does the same thing with fibre and than from the switch run coax which has 4x or more than capacity of the phone line.
