Xbox 360 is worth the money. Having xbox live is even better. But i would keep an eye out for holiday bundles coming out soon.

Gears of War
Forza 2
NHL08
Skate
Call of Duty 4 (when it comes out, beta was amazing)
Bioshock
Mass Effects (when it comes out)

Can't go wrong.
Plus the ability to try out demos on marketplace is an excellent feature.
