Its because the bonus makes your income seem higher. if you're normally getting 2k/week and one week you get 4k, it appears to the accounting department that you're actually making 200k/year rather than 100k and you will get taxed accordingly. The opposite will happen to people that work 2 jobs. They will usually have to pay money in tax season because their employers are under-deducting. If its a real concern, you can talk to the accounting department and they will probably adjust your next bonus check for you.
