The saga continues (we love saying that).
With all the rumors swirling about claiming Konami has told various publications not to mention certain "technical details," like the length of the cut-scenes, load times, and required HDD space for the installation, news has been huge lately. Everyone is asking if Konami could really be doing something that flies in the face of journalistic integrity. What's the deal? Well, one of the original sources of the rumor, the MTV Multiplayer blog, has heard from editors at both Game Informer and PlayStation: The Official Magazine, who said that Konami didn't impose any restrictions on their MGS4 review. But at the same time, the EGM fiasco continues; as they said Konami did ask them to avoid certain topics in their review, thereby resulting in the magazine refusing to score the game. They do say, however, that their review will be in next month's issue. Again, here's EGM's explanation on the matter:
So why dont we have a full review this issue? Simply put: We werent happy with the limitations Konami wanted to impose on our comments, and rather than publish compromised reviews in the interest of being the first to rate the game, wed rather wait until next issue, where we can be completely open and thorough with our thoughts.
We're still not sure what's going on, as Konami has stayed completely silent on this issue and we certainly haven't heard anything about Konami "imposing limitations" on MGS4 reviews from any online gaming publications. Perhaps this is just another "blown way out of proportion" scenario, but if so, we expect to hear a clarification from Konami at some point. We'll keep you updated. And remember, the review you see from PSXE will be the real deal; no restrictions, limitations or any other outside influences will affect our analysis.
