Soem good advice but I would not make your main character a herb/miner. If you are going to be raiding your main should have professions that will help you do better in raiding. My elemental shaman was originally a DS Leatherworker/Skinner. I needed to squeeze every point of spell damage I could out of my toon and decided to bite the bullet and level up enchanting to get the +spell damage on my rings. Having an extra 24 spell damage for me is worth dropping skinning and spending the money on leveling up enchanting.
