All good points, especially about fitting the gear.
If you know what you need, great, but if you don't then it is best to get fitted.
With the gear, you get what you pay for. The cheaper gear is usually a little bulkier, or offers less protection than some of the higher end gear.
The cheaper gear is usually a little heavier too.
