Another fact - Molotovs themselves don't actually hurt the tank. However, it does raise the damage of your gunshots to it, AND make it easier to see, especially in forest maps or dark maps
but what dub.g said earlier, so true. If rescue arrives, fuck your team, rush for the helicopter/boat/whatever. If you make it, they'll forget that you ditched them. If you don't make it, don't expect to be helped up even if they manage to fight off the horde rushing at them

Tanks CAN and do rip open the safe house doors like fucking tin foil if you run back to the safe house when a tank is running after you. And tovs/anything flamable are the BEST way to kill tanks, its almost essential to have a molotov if you're fighting a tank in expert. Set it on fire, it does damage over time so once it sets on fire run like hell, kite it around, then if its still alive try to get it to loop or get it stuck somewhere.
This is strictly speaking 1 on 1 vs the tank if you want the MAN VS TANK achievement. 4 v 1 vs the tank obviously you can gun it down or set it on fire and run & gun it.
EDIT: I've only been playing expert co-op so maybe shits different in normal or other difficulties.
Also heres a couple tricks i've learnt, i've been playing a lot since my exams finished hah. Q or Quick switch + Melee, is an awesome glitch for beating off mobs quick, the Q just acts as a cancel and theres no wait time for melee. Also if theres no way around the witch, if you've got the auto shotty you can much 1 shot her for the "CR0WNED" achievement. Sneak up behind her with lights off, then as she gets up and starts screaming just land one good shot in her head and shes dead. You can unload on her if you want to be sure but you wont get the achievement.
