If you do not have HD equipment I'd take the plunge and get a PVR (be is Flaw Cable or Hell Sat). You can try to leverage your past history with Shaw or pick up a box on Craigslist (just be wary of non-shaw boxes and insist/verify that the shaw box that you DO pick up doesn't have any outstanding charges sitting against it).

As for the original post - I'm on Shaw. Been with them for years and have never seriously considered Bell due to contracts, cost, and the fact that Shaw also provides me with intarwebs. I have not had any major technical problems with shaw and their CS has been pretty decent to me.

I believe that Bell has more HD channels. Check your viewing habits to determine if the additional HD channels actually bring you any value. Both offer all the "big" networks in HD, and afaik both offer HD movie channels and HD Sporksnet and TSN.
