www.internetdownloadmanager.com for years now, and I love it. It is always updated, and doesn't interfere too much at all. It's commercial only (no spyware) but totally worth it.
This is the only way to get the most out of your bandwidth. Using it, I am able to use my full 6.5 mbps from Hong Kong to pretty much any site in the world.
