I'd take offense to that but I had the interior of one of my old Jetta's literally become one solid chunk of mold after it sat over an entire winter... so it's unfortunately a true stereotype.
That said, I loved how my old Volkswagens handled. Even stock, very few cars of that generation -- and even some newer ones -- handled as well as my old GTI or GTX. Tuned on proper suspension settings, those things were wicked on the mountain twisties.
