I would totally take time off if your back hurts, go see physio if you need to because if you keep stressing your back you'll end up hurting it even more then you think.


Like jakobi said, good mornings are great and so are back extensions. I would put the ego aside and work with minimal weight to reduce the pain, go for reps for now until your back heals up.
