Twitter isn't for everyone, but it's a good way to get information about people in a stream-lined matter, it basically gets rid of all the extra shit that most sites would have, and just provides the information you want. Its also handy for networking, for whatever purpose you see fit, but for me it would be for Business/Web Developers. Here's a simple example of how I would network..

(Me) KeeganT: Looking for web developer to design simple site
(someone whos following me) Jonbob: @KeeganT is looking for web developers for a small web project ("Retweet" or Repost)
(All of jonbobs friends see this message)
Jeffjack (One of jonbobs friends): @Lushloo(One of Jeffjacks friends) Yo man, @KeeganT is looking for a web developer, give him a shout for some work.

Also, if you were following Kevin Rose (Digg) or Mark ZUzkekekbuerg (Facebook) any useful bits of information/articles/videos they may post you could see. Which is very useful for me as it's business related. But it could be the same for cars, horses, or anything else.
