Yeah, the Turkey Trot is a great run (limited to 1500) and the shirt is nice, but I find that it's getting pretty expensive ($60 for a 10K?)

I'm looking at doing the 8K race at the Vancouver Marathon in May just to get the thrill of being in a race again and to see where I'm at in terms of fitness. The cost is reasonable ($35), the course is flat, and there shouldn't be tens of thousands of runners/walkers to dodge.

anybody else participating?

I'm aiming for sub 50 min... althought i've never done the sun run
What type of pace are you on right now? Take a look at the course - there are two inclines (one steep, and the other gradual) that you'll need to consider. Make sure you run hills during your training... and run them faster than you normally would on flat terrain to build up your strength and mental toughness to take the pain.
