It never did spread to fields it never intended to go. Google's vision: To make sense of all digital data in the world. And you talking on the phone after being A/D converted is digital data. It's going to make it make sense, making calls go to you wherever you are whichever phone network you are near makes a lot of sense. Voice decrypt the voice message and sending it to your gmail makes a lot of sense.
Nothing out of their agenda from day 1 imo.
