OK, I was being facetious. Just to make it clear for people taking it literally: If you are storing your laptop for a year, then you will want to bring the charge down a bit (40%) and store the battery in a refrigerator.
But for day-to-day use, you do
NOT want to discharge your battery over and over if you don't have to. The fastest way to lower the lifespan of a battery is to put it through charge cycles. If you can prevent having to charge the battery, it will last much, much longer. If you are constantly draining it for no reason, you are wasting your battery away.
