Dual core atom desktop - not as good as people expected

unless you care about an extra $10 on your electric bill (if you turn on your PC 24/7) or the extra space, then you should forget about building an atom desktop or HTPC.

A friend at work wants to compete with my $300 PC, so he spent almost $400on a lowest spec atom PC.

Dual core atom barebone....$1280hkd
1gb Ram...$85hkd
320gb 2.5" SATA HD...$320
laptop DVD writer...$350
Card reader...$39
USB wireless...$110
Wireless keyboard w/ trackball...$250
Some cables...$50~

total: $395cdn

Normal startup, shutdown, internet surfing, word processing are almost the same speed, but it's hell slow when using photoshop and easy real media to convert rmvb(it could be better with more ram). 1080p clips are smooth, a bit better than any old AMD 64 computers. My wattage meter shows 45watt@ idle...then it goes up to 62watt load, excellent compare to my other PCs which read 100-115watt @ idle. Of course noise level is low and less heat coming out from the case.

Pros:
Case is small
Very low energy consumption
It plays 1080p without any problem or high cpu wattage

Cons:
Case is ugly, you have no alternative choice
Price is high, you can get a decent PC with higher processing speed
Forget about video editting, gaming, or multitasking software
Difficult to fit everything in a tight case.
Unknown PSU, might cost a lot of replace
No HDMI port and no PCI-E x4 port
