half the engine is the head and there are a lot of brackets to tear down and to get it machinede properly is important as well as to make sure a metal head gasket seats properly you should probably machine the block and lap it to give the gasket a smooth surface to seat into that is the most important part and i'm looking at worse case senario i'm a pesimist
