Doesnt that happen in less than a minute..how does that work when the drive is spinning 5400-7200 RPM?

Yeah I was thinking of the SSD however I'm thinking of installing OS X as well. The free fall parks the drive heads in milliseconds. The platters still spin but since the heads are parked the won't get damaged.
