RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - RCMP now say a woman killed early this morning in Richmond likely died of gunshot wounds. Corporal Dale Carr says paramedics told police she had a "gunshot injury" but an autopsy will be needed to confirm the cause of death.
He also says the Asian woman in her 30's was well known to Richmond RCMP for criminal activity.
Homicide investigators were called to an industrial complex in the 2500 block of Shell Road in north Richmond at about 4:30 this morning, after a woman's body was found inside a car.
A person driving a pickup near the homicide scene is being questioned by police but Carr says it's too early to describe the person as a suspect.
Police also say it's still too early to link the incident to a series of shootings across Metro Vancouver that has claimed 20 lives since mid-January.
