Yeah, regardless of the weight difference, Gems are just bad boats. I'd rather paddle in a 6/16 because at least there's room.
I don't think any team brings their 'A' game to practice. You guys are in a different division though, so it's no surprise that you were able to pull ahead. Our starts give us an advantage against other Rec teams and can keep us up for about 200-250m against Comp teams before you guys pull away with the muscle.
