It's held up pretty well. There's a total of 8 screws holding the back plate to the plywood, and another 4x 3" screws holding it to the studs on the wall, so the weight is pretty well distributed. 3/4 would have been nice but I didn't have any lying around and it's probably a bit overkill for a smallish 42" TV. It's been hanging up for a year now and it's still attached to the wall.
If you ship other stuff to a US mailing address regularly, use that address, as the item is heavy. I shipped my mount, and a bunch of USB, HDMI and audio cables and shipping was $12.28. It's well worth it to drive down and pick it up, especially if you're already going down to pick up other stuff.
