just a suggestion: you mention that it had no gas. that would mean the thief may have gone to the nearest gas station to fuel up. maybe check your local stations to see if anyone on duty around the time of the theft had seen the car come in?

question to other RS members: what is the procedure for this if we do see the car on the road (ie. not ditched by the side of the road)? do i call 911? tail it until it stops? i know from calling police directly in the past usually involves either voice mail or getting put on hold
911 or CrimeStoppers, it's a stolen vehicle, so whoever is driving either stole it, or is in possession of stolen property.

Good call on the gas stations, start from the one nearest your house and work outwards asking them if they saw your car or wouldn't mind letting you see the surveillance tapes.
