The numbers are roughly 30million units for xbox360 and 24million for PS3
The PS3 coming out later than the xbox and
xbox with a estimated 54% failure rate (which microsoft addressed "we're improving" and did not refute the survey)

exactly. plus keep in mind many people didn't even know their 360 was under an extended warranty and threw it out and bought a new one. I wonder how many of them are sitting in landfills
