You don't need to use bitstream, it can be passed as PCM over any HDMI cable, with no loss in quality. In fact if you have a PS3 other than slim, you need to it that way anyway.
In any case, you shouldn't be spending $12 on an HDMI cable, 1.2 or 1.3 or whatever. Get a 1.3 cable from
Monoprice for $2.50 USD (and up, depending on length). Anything more is a stupid waste of money.
